HAPPINESS

Happiness Mood Board

Over the past couple of years many of us have been forced to slow down and adapt to a new way of life. For me, even with everything that was happening in the world, I still found happiness. Perhaps these were things that were once taken for granted, but over this past two years they counted for a lot.  I found happiness in having a short walk in nature, watching the sunset outside the window, animals, music, fresh flowers, the warm weather, cups of tea, learning new hobbies and fortunately spending time with my family. But it also put into perspective that life is so short, and you really don’t know what’s around the corner. That’s why it is so important to seek joy in day to day moments and have exciting things to look forward to and memories to look back on.

The style of my work is mixed media as I love to incorporate my own photographs with various drawing styles. My aesthetic can be seen across all my collections of work from my time at University.

As a starting point I created this mood/ vision board for inspiration for imagery, composition and colour. It includes a range of scales, photographic elements and patterns, this is the style I wanted to achieve in my scarf collection. All floral images are my own, and all other imagery is just for demonstration/ inspirational purposes only.

I love visiting different places to take pictures for my work, this inspires my drawings and prints. For my final major project I have also included some family photos that I have permission to use within my designs. This photo from Kenya is beautiful with the bright flowers and array of palm trees.  On my 'Gem Vacation' scarf below, I used this lovely photo in the centre and added a filter using Photoshop. This gives the image a smoothed quality and retains the depths of colour.
